So within a week of my blog appearing on family and social issues, Margaret Thatcher the most famous woman politician our country has seen has died this morning. I’m impressed with the amazingly quick turnaround of reportage, or have journalists been sat patiently with readily edited documentaries of her life waiting for this day? It’s ironic then that she upstaged the issues on disability benefits, and in the mist of welfare reform (part of her legacy) we’re trying make sense of. There is no denying she was a woman of integrity and stood by what she believed in. However, to my children she will always be remembered by ‘The lady who stopped Mummy’s milk at school’.
